Current experience: Dr. Joan D'souza is a Pharmacovigilance Physician and a Consultant. She has expertise in pre and post-marketing safety surveillance of drugs and medical devices. Previous experience: A firm believer in sharing her knowledge: The DIA, World Drug Safety Congress; Europe, and Americas, International Society of Pharmacovigilance (ISoP), Global Pharmacovigilance Society, the American Medical Writers Association, the European Medical Writers Association (EMWA), and the Pharma International Conferences in Europe are just a few of the venues in which she has spoken. She has worked for various clinical research organizations and pharmaceutical companies. Her treatment experience includes oncology, dermatology, pain management, infectious disorders, vaccinations, diabetes, and pain management. She is active in several ISoP special interest groups, including risk communication (secretary), medical devices, geriatric pharmacovigilance, vaccinations, medication error, and eco pharmacovigilance, and delivered multiple presentations of drug-device combinations. She used to actively participate in the pharmacovigilance and medical devices special interest groups of EMWA. She frequently writes for the EMWA Journal and the ISoP Drug Safety Journal. She has finally delivered the esteemed John Autian Oration at the 21st Annual Conference of Pharmacovigilance, India (SoPICON 2024). Education background: She is a lawyer (JD licensed to practice law in the state of Minnesota (US)) and a physician with a Bachelor's in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery. She earned a Dean's List recognition for academic performance after completing a post-baccalaureate clinical research program at the University of Cincinnati in the US. She also obtained an advanced diploma in pharmacovigilance with software training. She is currently pursuing both a Masters & PhD in pharmacovigilance from Europe.
