Nuno Fontes | SVP and Head of Global CMC

Nuno Fontes is the SVP, Head of Global CMC at WuXi Biologics, reporting directly to Dr. Chris Chen, CEO.  Nuno brings 24 years of global biotech industry experience spanning large pharmaceutical companies and small biotech firms in technical operations and CMC management. Prior to joining WuXi Biologics, he served as SVP and Global Head of Biologics Development at Bayer Pharmaceuticals. Previously, he held the role of EVP of Technical Development at Coherus Biosciences, and before that, served as Executive Director of Process Sciences at Boehringer Ingelheim, where he led process development and clinical manufacturing in the USA for both the internal pipeline and CDMO business. Earlier in his career, Nuno spent nine years at Roche/Genentech, where he held roles including Group Leader and CMC Team Lead. He began his career as Purification and Analytical Development Lead at Biotecnol SA, a biotech startup in Europe. Nuno holds a Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering , an MBA in Commercialization of Science and Technology, an MSc. in Molecular and Cell Biology, and an undergraduate degree in Chemistry.
